However! Here's something a bit more than I usually manage to draw... backgrounds!
I'm so horrible at backgrounds! I don't know what to do, seriously :c same with the lame shading - I have no idea what freaking style to use, so here you go.
Worst of all, Raymond didn't look half-bad with that anime-classical hair shine strip xD
TIPS and CRITS and REDLINES are HIGHLY appreciated!
Oooh.
Background, yay!!! Keep working on'em, I hate them too^^ But this looks pretty nice, really! But the tomatoes furthest back there... They must be huge. I'm not so used with this kind of backgrounds, so I don't know much tips to give, bt just... Look at pictures and how the bavkgrounds looks there. You can do some copy-studies. And experiment. Always experiment. I say it a lot, but to me that's the best way to learn new things. And in Photoshop you can let yourself go with layersand sketching and trying out new stuff, so don't be afraid! And think perspective. Make sketch lines.
Your chars both look really awesome here! Me likes Ray's hair here very much.
Thanks a lot :'D I should indeed try looking and copy pictures, it sure must be a great way to learn. But I often find it hard to eperiment, which kinda paralyzes me D: I also kinda fail at layers because I never know properly what I'm actually doing... I make myself feel caged or something - have problems with freeing myself Dunno why, tho..
And HOMFG xD Those tomatoes are huge indeed - they must be grown somewhere on Mopia - no way the could've been grown on earth <u< Though what I had in mind was something like "Hey Ray, come look, they've imported a HUGE pile of tomatoes from Earth!"
..So much for that idea.
Again, thanks a whole lot! :'D I'll try to stody some perspective as well!

I haven't done so much picture copying myself either, just some faces once n a while, but yes, if you've got your mind with you, it is a great way to learn, yes. I like layers, but I'm never in control. I'm not the kind of person who names the layers, because... Suddenly I put something else there too^^ But I experiment a big lot! I guess using layers is practice like everything else. Just... If you're happy with the picture so far, just flatten it before you make new layers. I do so. Then I don't have to handle like 10 layers at once, which I guess can make one feel caged as you say.
Hehe, when we were on Hard rock café in Prague, my dad (who came with us) got a burger with a huuge tomato slice on it! I mean really really huge. The tomato it came from must've been bigger than like... a big orange.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
